A Little Time Away

We very rarely get time away, just the two of us. I know how important it is to be alone and re-connect and have fun. But, with 4 kids and all of our commitments, it seems like the less and less we get to do this these days.

So, I was ecstatic to spend a night away from home this weekend to celebrate our one year anniversary. We didn't venture to far, just an hour and a half to Rockwall, outside of Dallas. But, it was perfect and I felt like a couple of kids in love - holding hands, giggling, talking and lots of hugging and kissing. It was just what we needed.

We stayed at the Hilton Bella Harbor on Lake Ray Hubbard and it was beautiful. Quite magical to take a stroll down to the docks at dark and wander around hand in hand and grab some ice cream and sit on a bench and talk.

We got a lot of shopping in. David is such a good future hubby. His motto is, "I'm happy if you're happy." So, if that means trailing behind me as I look at clothes and bags and jewelry, he's there and never complains! I introduced him to Half Price  Books - one of my very favorite places to wander aimlessly. And we ate so much! So much good stuff!!

Of course, I took a lot of Instagram pictures. I'm obsessed now that I have it for my Android. David is still a Blackberry user, so no Instagram for him. However, once he caught on to what it was all about, he was quick to point something out and say, "that would be a great shot" or "Instagram that." Just one of the many reasons I love that man - he gets me and my need to blog and tweet and now Instagram!

Here are a few shots from our fun night away from home.

We topped off our weekend by coming home Sunday afternoon and spending some time with the kids at a friends house for Easter. It is always wonderful to be able to slip away and remember all the reasons you fell in love in the first place. In the hustle and bustle of our life, our relationship is sometimes the first to get lost in the chaos. Being able to slow down and spend some alone time reminds us why we do all this in the first place!

How do you make time to spend with your significant other? Do you have time set a part weekly/monthly? Or something special you do that is just for you? Always love suggestions!
