Thought for Thursday {Marriage}

Pinned Image

So, I'm engaged. And getting married in a little over 6 months. Which means, I will then be a wife. And I will have a husband! And will be spending the rest of my life with my very best friend. I knew from the very beginning that David was 'the one.' Say what you will, but I knew. I've waited 31 years to find the person I would spend my life with. So, you better believe that I'm certain on this!

With our upcoming marriage, I've been thinking about what it means to be a wife. Will it be any different than being a girlfriend? Will we change? Will our relationship change? I don't have the answers and won't know until we say 'I do.'

But there are some things that I do know and that I want to strive to ensure as a wife. I want to make sure that my husband feels loved and appreciated every single day. I don't ever want to go to bed mad and continue to work on our communication in solving problems. I want to be the kind of wife that my husband can't wait to get home to at the end of the day. I want to help shoulder his worries, fears and stress; to be his biggest cheerleader. And I want to celebrate his successes and be by his side in every step of the way – tough decisions, sad times and momentous occasions. It is extremely important to me to provide an example to the kids of what a loving, healthy, respectful partnership looks like – so that when their day comes, they will seek out the same for themselves.

I cannot wait to be David's wife. To have his last name. I look forward to all the adventures that await us. To start our own family and have a child together- to add on to our already amazing family. I can't say if thing will change after July 21st, but I do know, if they do, it can only get better. My commitment to him is one that will last a lifetime and I go into this knowing that seperating one day is not an option. I could not be any more proud to be his future wife, and, to call him my husband.

  5. Congrats! I just found your blog, but I'm already excited for you! I like how you put it, "It is extremely important to me to provide an example to the kids of what a loving, healthy, respectful partnership looks like – so that when their day comes, they will seek out the same for themselves." And I really like quotes- that one from Martin Luther was very cute!
