My Word for 2012 Is...

I'm sure I've mentioned it before – but I tend to take on a lot. I get an idea or get interested in something and I'm all gung ho about it. But when reality sets in and I can't devote as much time to it as I want to make it successful, I get down on myself and have those 'failure' feelings.

So, I like to joke that I'm Wonder Woman, but I only have so many hours in a day. I still have to work full time (although I keep hinting to David that I would LOVE to be a SHM), take care of 4 kids, 3 dogs and a Mister and make time for the things I want to do. So, it is time to re-prioritize and re-focus.

I sent out a tweet over the weekend asking what one word would sum up what you're wanting to focus on for 2012. I got a lot of great answers. Mine would be 'priorities.' As my life continues to change, it's very important to me that I fulfill every aspect of my life and devote the time I need and want to my family, my friends, my lovely Mister and to my blog and creating. In order to do this, I have to get uber organized and I also have to narrow down my focus.

So, after much thought and deliberation, I've decided to focus my creative energies this year on two things. The first, being this blog. By posting frequently, growing my readership, taking better pictures and getting my name out there to people who might not have found me yet and learning html code.

Second, is to work on my jewelry. This was my first passion and what I fell in love with years ago – but has taken the back burner as my attention deficit has taken me in a million different directions. So, it's like coming back home to where it all started. I love the re-purposing and up-cycling and will probably continue to do so, but more for my personal self, not for professional. My goal is to create a cohesive jewelry line this year that I can sell in my shop and perhaps do my first craft show!

So, if you haven't told me yet, what word would you use to sum up your focus for the new year? And what are you doing to achieve it!

  1. You're already off to a great start, sweetie! Can't wait to see how things end up this year.

I don't know that I can think of just one word...I guess it would be Unprocrastinate. Yep, I think I just made that up! I want to quit putting my dreams & favorite things off for other stupid time sucks. I want to open my own crafty online shop & do a little more of the fun homemaking tasks. I want to unprocrastinate on making my dreams come true!

  4. It seems like a lot of people are feeling the same as you from the blogs I've read! It can be SO hard to shut-off all the interests that are roaming around our periphary and just focus on one or maybe two things. Great advice though, something we all can do! Can't wait to see your jewellery!
