What Inspires Me Wednesday - plus an update

I really love reading Amanda's blog Kind Over Matter. She always has the most inspiring things that she shares. It always leaves me thinking - and more times than not I pass on something I read there to my friends and family. Today - she shared a selection of free (you can't beat free) positive posters for download. I fell in love with this one instantly and have now sent it over to my best friend and boyfriend - to add a little inspiration to their Wednesday. So, I want to share it will all my favorite people in the blog world!

Truly, these are all things that I tell myself everyday, I don't know about you. And they are all things I struggle with in my day to day life. Forgiveness is a biggie for me - I tend to hold a grudge for a very long time and in the end, it only ends up hurting me! And I'm always having that internal battle of being authentic and true to myself. I sometimes fall into the trap of starting to be who I think others see me or want me to be - or worrying what others may think if I'm truly being 'myself.' Still working on that one!

In other news, I got a sweet little email reminder a few days ago from 43 Things reminding me so kindly of the New Year's resolutions I made. Mind you, I hadn't completely forgotten them - they are actually posted on a dry erase board in my kitchen. However, I have to admit I've done a horrible job of keeping up with any of them. Blame that on me or the direction my life has taken recently. But they are still some really awesome goals - thought I would share them here and it might encourage me to do a better job!

  • Kick a very bad habit  - I have several of these, none of been kicked yet
  •
  • Start Cupcakes for Kids - this was an idea I had for starting a non-profit that would assist in helping get birthday cakes or cupcakes to kids who may not otherwise get them, due to their economic situation. Once again, great idea, I just can't find time!
  •
  • Cook one new recipe a week  - HA! I now consist on fast food and ball park food. Any super easy, healthy recipe ideas that you could pass this way would be accepted
  •
  • Enjoy Life - now guys, this one I'm doing a VERY good job at - thanks to the wonderful people in my life!
  •
  • Not take things so personally - well, hmmmm. Still working on this one.
  •
  • Watch less t.v. - this really has happened, but only because my life is now consumed by kids and sports!
  •
  • Think more, react less - I really am working on this one. And I am doing better. I'm really trying to think about how my words my affect those around me.
  •
  • Travel somewhere new - I do have plans for this. I'm contemplating Key West or Jamaica.

Anyone else have any New Years resolutions or goals you set for yourself? How are you coming along on yours?

Lots of Love...

  1. Hi Amanda,
    Great post.
Good luck with achieving you goals, don’t put too much pressure on yourself to complete them straight away !!
One thing i did think when reading them, your cupcake idea... you could do this as a fun activity with the kids, so you are still spending quality time with them as well as working towards one of your goals..
I think i might start posting a few cooking tutorials/recipes on my blog... will keep you posted on that one.

    Hugs
    Claire
