A Thought for Thursday {My Mom}

Pinned Image

I don't know what kind of relationship you have with your Mom, but mine is my best friend. She can also piss me off and annoy me like no other - but I am of the firm belief this is because we are so much alike. Growing up, I always said I would be nothing like my Mom. How wrong I was.

 I didn't realize how much I needed my Mom or how incredibly smart she was and how much she knew until I moved away for college. I figured out rather quickly that I needed her way more than I ever thought. Didn't matter if it was cooking questions, advice on boys or just someone to vent to. When I moved off, I started the habit of speaking to her every single day.

And no matter how much we may disagree about some things or the fact that she still feels like she should have some control of my life and the decisions I make - I know that she loves me and supports me unconditionally. Her job for 31 years has been being my Mom - and I know that will be her job until the day she dies. And I appreciate her for taking that job so seriously.

As my house is about to be featured on the Tour of Homes, it's my Mom who has been at the house every single day, decorating, cleaning and putting on every single special touch. It was her dream for my home to be featured and when it's all said and done, it would never have been possible without the hard work she has put in.

I probably don't tell her nearly enough, but I love her more than anything in the world and she is truly my best friend.

  2. What a blessing! My mom and I have a great relationship and I wouldn't change it one bit.

  3. I'm right there with you. I don't know what I would do without my Momma Bear! It doesn't feel like the day is complete if I haven't talked to her, even if all I have to say is "I love you Mommy".

  4. My mom became one of my best friends too. I do tell her a majority of the things. I call her as much as possible for every little thing. She is always there for me.
    We went through this period of college where we did not talk at all. boy did that change.
    And there are many times where i say "thats something my mom would say / do".

    It's nice to hear I'm not the only one.
