We had his party on Saturday. We didn't let him know where we were going and scooped up a couple of his friends on our way out of town. We took the boys to play laser tag! They had a blast and ended up playing about 7 games. David played too. I think he had more fun than the rest of them (although he seemed to lose every game). Morgan and I hung out and used up all the game tokens that came along with purchasing laser tag. I finally got to play Dance Dance Revolution and I must say, I'm hooked! I got high score twice. Nice to know this old lady still has some moves!

Pizza for lunch and back home. Our house is probably 2 to 3 blocks from downtown and our annual festival was going on. We have something called 'Chickfest.' Yes, it's a festival named after chickens. Why, you may ask? Because we are the home of Pilgrim's Pride Chicken! My Dad had scored the kids wristbands to the rides so they could ride for free all day and so they were off.

Family came over later on and we did hot dogs and birthday cake and presents. David and I got Bubba a gift card to Nike ID. If you don't know about Nike ID you can design your own shoes and they make them and ship them to you (I have a pair designed. Hint, hint for Christmas). And then the boys were off again to ride rides downtown.

We made a late night trek downtown around 9:30 p.m. There was one ride David just HAD to ride - The Sizzler - and Morgan was a sweet enough daughter to ride with him! One ride and he was done!
All in all, I would say it was a huge success. It was our first real family event of any kind since blending lives and it really couldn't have been a more perfect weekend. Did I mention how teary eyed I got when I watched my Dad playing catch with our 10 year old? Life is pretty sweet for us!

How do you celebrate Birthdays with your kids? Or in your family?
Lots of love...
